Senior Psychiatrist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist to join our team at Medacs, working in partnership with Mersey Care NHS Trust. As a key member of our consultancy team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric services to older patients, utilizing your exceptional therapeutic skills to develop constructive pathways to recovery.

• Conduct new referral assessments, deliver therapy, and refer to psychology colleagues for relevant interventions.
• Formulate care and treatment plans, prescribe various types of treatment, and provide guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
• Support patients and their families, communicating clinical information to explain a diagnosis and treatment options.
• Communicate with patients and the multidisciplinary team on shared patient decision making.
• Work in and lead a multidisciplinary team, assessing and prioritizing patient/client requirements.
• Recognize, review, and report a patient's condition and any changes to the patient and the multidisciplinary team.
• Perform administrative and clerical tasks, such as keeping records of test results and monitoring treatment plans.
• Teach and train other junior doctors, medical students, and multidisciplinary team members.

• MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) or equivalent.
• 6 months recent NHS experience within the last 3 years.
