Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Randstad Enterprise. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for overseeing new build Substation projects throughout the UK, from East Anglia to North Scotland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager and Commercial Project Manager in identifying, evaluating, and assessing risks and opportunities.
  • Take ownership and administer main contract and subcontracts on a day-to-day basis.
  • Prepare and submit Payment Applications.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier final account settlements.
  • Provide timely updates to the Project Manager and Commercial Project Manager on the accurate financial status, including forecast out-turn position, of project subcontractors and key supplier accounts.
  • Attend Project meetings with Site, Customer, and Joint Venture Partner stakeholders at their office premises or construction sites.
  • Take ownership and management of Project Change Management and Claims, relating to both the main Contract with our Customers and our subcontractors and key suppliers.
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate with the wider Project team, giving contractual advice relative to the successful execution of the Project.
  • Support the procurement department by advising on and drafting contractual terms and conditions for the placement of Project Subcontract work packages.
  • Liaise with our legal team, reviewing and evaluating subcontract terms and conditions aligned to our main customer contracts.
  • Identify, evaluate, and follow up on all events relevant for incoming and outgoing claims and compensation events.
  • Collect, prepare, analyze, and manage relevant claim and variation particulars for the preparation and drafting, or defense, of submissions to or from our Customers and subcontractors and key suppliers, in line with contract timescales.
  • Perform quantum and/or delay analyses to establish causation for relevant events impacting the scope of works or project schedule.
  • Provide contractual advice and support to our Project teams regarding the effective execution of customer contracts and subcontracts.
  • Pursue and/or defend incoming and outgoing claims; including the collation of relevant project records, documentation, and appropriate evidence and facts, through to satisfactory conclusion.
  • Establish and substantiate cause and effect necessary to demonstrate entitlement to quantum and/or additional time under the Contract.
  • Develop and improve contract and claim management processes and strategies.
Requirements
  • Experience in Quantity Surveying/Contract Management and/or commercial project management.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with a variety of Construction and Engineering Forms of Contract; in particular extensive experience with the NEC Contract. FIDIC and MF/1 desirable.
  • Experience with High Voltage (HV) Substation construction projects would be ideal.
  • Experience with M&E, Civil, Water, or Utilities construction would be advantageous.
  • Experience in project budgeting, financial management of risk, opportunities, and claims.
  • Chartered Quantity Surveyor would be advantageous (RICS/CICES).
  • Competent in Claim Management.
