Position Overview

The ideal candidate will possess the capability to execute a variety of management, leadership, and caregiving responsibilities, showcasing these abilities in a supportive and encouraging capacity. This role involves providing practical coaching as needed, while supervising and assessing staff performance.

Collaboration with other professionals is essential, utilizing established practices and expertise.

You will be tasked with delivering regular formal supervision to all team members and facilitating the onboarding process for new hires.

Responsibilities include monitoring and evaluating services to meet the needs of service users, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and guidelines. Building and maintaining professional relationships with service users, families, caregivers, and colleagues through open and sensitive communication is crucial.

As a Lead Social Care Practitioner, you will typically work Monday to Friday, although shift work may be necessary to provide coverage. This could involve day, evening, and/or weekend shifts, including sleep-ins and/or wakened nights, as well as public holidays.

Flexibility in scheduling will be required based on the needs of service users.

Successful candidates will receive all necessary corporate and service mandatory training in accordance with organizational requirements.

The role of Lead Social Care Practitioner can be both physically and emotionally demanding.

Candidate Requirements

Applicants must possess or be willing to obtain, within the initial registration period, the Social Services and Healthcare SCQF level 6 (equivalent to SVQ3) or a comparable qualification to fulfill Scottish Social Services Council registration requirements.

Key duties include supervising staff in all aspects of their roles, which encompasses assisting service users with personal care, nutrition, and medication administration.

Applicants should be capable of performing all Moving and Handling tasks, including the operation of wheelchairs.

Participation in the on-call out-of-hours rota is required, covering weeknights, weekends, and public holidays, with a standard rate of compensation.

The successful candidate will advocate for social inclusion by employing person-centered approaches, including Active Support, to enhance service users' personal independence, health, and well-being, enabling them to access opportunities within their communities.

Strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and the capacity to manage and prioritize workloads are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently, collaborate effectively in a team, possess literacy and IT skills, and exhibit leadership qualities to mentor Care Assistants and Social Care Workers.

Important Note

Before finalizing your appointment, you will need to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.

As this position necessitates SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to submit their registration application.
