An exceptional opportunity has emerged within our Emergency Department for a full or part-time Band 6 Senior Emergency Care Nurse to become a vital member of our team. We seek a dedicated and self-driven professional who is committed to providing top-notch emergency care in a dynamic environment.
As a Band 6 Senior Emergency Care Nurse in the Emergency Department, your role is crucial as a skilled role model and clinical authority, collaborating closely with the Senior Nursing Team and Matron/Lead Nurse.
Key Requirements:
- Experience in emergency or acute nursing at AFC Bands 5 or 6, demonstrating proficiency in the essential skills relevant to emergency care.
- Proof of ongoing professional development.
- Strong communication skills.
- A willingness to promote innovative practices within an emergency care context.

Main Responsibilities:
To serve as the clinical leader during your shift, ensuring the highest quality of care is delivered to support each patient throughout their care journey, while enhancing the patient experience, maintaining clinical integrity, and sharing knowledge.
To communicate effectively with the Emergency Department team, clinical teams, Lead Nurse, Matrons, Practice Development Team (PDT), and the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- Current NMC registration / HCPC paramedic registration
- 3 years of post-registration experience
- PILS/ILS (or equivalent for paramedic applicants)
Desirable:
- Experience in mentorship / assessing students or providing preceptorship
- Link Nurse Role / special interest or experience
- Further study post-registration
- Participation in a change management project
Experience:
Essential:
- Significant experience in the Emergency Department or equivalent (acute setting, MAU, AAU, ITU) for 2 years.
- Ample experience in caring for acutely unwell patients
Desirable:
- Practical teaching experience, either formally or informally
Skills/Ability/Knowledge:
Essential:
- Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
- Experience in area coordination / leadership in an acute care setting
