Job Overview

Position Summary

Objective:

The role involves the deployment and maintenance of Azure-based applications utilizing DevOps practices for various environments including production, staging, and development.


Department Overview:

The Assessment Technology division is tasked with managing the operational systems that process millions of examination results each year.

The Scanning & Marking sector operates under the Director of Assessment Technology, focusing on the delivery, deployment, and support of multiple software solutions in this domain.

This role is part of the Platform Services & Support team within the Scanning & Marking sector and will report to the Platform Services and Support Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
Deploy and maintain Azure applications using DevOps methodologies.

Offer guidance and insights on Infrastructure and Security while collaborating with architecture and application development teams to ensure the Infrastructure aligns with current and future business goals.

Establish system monitoring and alerting mechanisms to maintain application health.
Provide technical assistance for all infrastructure, both in Azure and on-premises.

Ensure that appropriate security measures are implemented across all environments and contribute recommendations for further security enhancements.

Monitor performance across all infrastructure and suggest improvements.

Participate in the out-of-hours incident support rotation, typically covering nights and weekends (approximately 4-6 weeks annually).

Report to the Platform Services & Support Manager as necessary.
Experience Required:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in an Azure infrastructure engineering role.
Certifications:
AZ-104 Microsoft Azure Administrator or equivalent certification (mandatory).
AZ-400 or AZ-305 (preferred).
Skills:
Comprehensive understanding of IAAS, PAAS, and SAAS, particularly within Azure.
Proficient in PowerShell, T-SQL, and other scripting languages.
Familiarity with IaC, Bicep, and ARM.

Strong grasp of modern application deployment and configuration methods via CI/CD pipelines, especially Azure DevOps YAML and classic pipelines.

Experience in troubleshooting both automated and manual application deployment and configuration pipelines.
Personal Attributes:
A strong interest and enthusiasm for Cloud technologies.
Ambitious and eager to learn.
Detail-oriented and capable of working independently.
