About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our team at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist gastroenterology services to patients, including outpatient consultations, endoscopy procedures, and in-patient care.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of 14 consultants and 7 registrars to deliver high-quality patient care and develop services across the breadth of gastroenterology.
  • Participate in research and innovation, building on our existing strong clinical research portfolio in hepatology and endoscopy.
  • Contribute to the development of our services, including the expansion of our endoscopy department and the development of new treatments and therapies.
  • Provide teaching and clinical supervision to junior doctors and medical students, including those from the new University of Portsmouth Medical School.
Requirements
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • MRCP or equivalent.
  • Entry on the GMC specialist register via CCT in Gastroenterology (proposed date must be within 6 months), CESR or European Community Rights.
  • Wide experience of gastroenterology and general internal medicine.
  • JAG certified training in upper and lower GI endoscopy.
