We are looking for a skilled and empathetic Senior Psychiatric Consultant to become part of our Community Mental Health Services for Adults and Seniors. This temporary position involves delivering expert psychiatric care, providing leadership, and managing clinical practices within a multidisciplinary team.

Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis

Perform thorough psychiatric evaluations of adults and seniors facing various mental health challenges.

Employ standardized diagnostic methods and clinical discussions to establish accurate diagnoses.

Create and execute personalized treatment strategies based on clinical assessments and patient aspirations.

Therapeutic Approaches

Administer evidence-based psychiatric interventions, including medication management, psychotherapy, and psychosocial support.

Regularly review and modify treatment strategies according to patient development and feedback.

Address intricate cases involving co-existing conditions, resistant disorders, and psychosocial influences.

Collaborative Teamwork

Engage in teamwork with a diverse group of professionals, including psychologists, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists.

Attend routine team discussions, case reviews, and care planning meetings.

Offer expert advice and assistance to team members concerning psychiatric care and management.

Leadership and Mentorship

Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to junior medical staff, psychiatric trainees, and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Must hold AC Approval
  • Medical degree with completed specialist training in psychiatry.
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and membership in the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant clinical environment.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a community mental health context.
  • Additional qualifications or certifications in geriatric psychiatry, psychotherapy, or related fields.
  • Experience in conducting and engaging in clinical research and quality improvement projects.
