About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Trant Engineering Limited. As a key member of our design studio, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of electrical design, from project initiation to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Project Management: Manage project-specific design deliverables, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  2. Design Execution: Carry out design in accordance with M&E Design QA Procedures, interpreting and understanding client requirements from client documents.
  3. Design Coordination: Communicate with clients, external design resources, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications.
  4. Site Surveys: Conduct site surveys of existing assets to inform design decisions.
  5. Optioneering and Feasibility Studies: Conduct optioneering and feasibility studies to identify optimal design solutions.
  6. Tender Pricing: Assist with tender pricing, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing.
  7. Design Documentation: Produce procurement specifications for electrical equipment and detailed design construction drawings.
  8. Project Coordination: Project manage third-party designs and provide design assistance to installation and commissioning teams.
  9. Design Review: Review vendors' control system functional design specifications for compliance.
  10. Design Verification: Review vendor data and drawings for all electrical equipment and package plant, motor control centers, power distribution panels, and field equipment panels.
  11. Cost Management: Manage internal and external project-specific design costs in liaison with the Project Manager.
  12. Design Calculations: Undertake and check design calculations, including modeling of the complete power system (AMTECH).
  13. Design Preparation: Prepare drawings for CAD production.
  14. Process Control Philosophy: Assist in the development of process control philosophies with the Process Engineer and suppliers.
  15. Electrical Scope and Works Enquiry: Produce electrical scope and works enquiry submission documents.
  16. Estimation: Estimate material and labor costs.
  17. Design Risk Assessment: Undertake design risk assessments to support detailed design proposals.
  18. Electrical Specifications: Prepare detailed electrical specifications.
  19. Design Documentation: Produce single-line and block cable diagrams, load schedules, equipment specifications, cable schedules, equipment schedules, telemetry schedules, instrument schedules, and I/O listings.
  20. Design Change Management: Record and document all design changes through to completion and issue of 'As Built' documents.
  21. Client and Subcontractor Liaison: Liaise with clients and subcontractors.
Requirements
  1. Qualifications: An appropriate electrical qualification or by experience.
  2. Chartered Engineer Status: Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous.
