Health and Safety Manager

At SF Recruitment (Birmingham), we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chemical Safety Manager to join our client's team in Tamworth. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the well-being and safety of all employees and maintaining a compliant work environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Safety Policies: Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and practices that are compliant with relevant regulations, industry standards, and legal requirements.
- Risk Management: Conduct regular risk assessments and inspections to identify potential hazards, evaluate risk, and implement appropriate control measures.
- Training: Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on health and safety matters, including safe working practices and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation, regulations, and codes of practice, and update relevant policies and procedures accordingly.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously improve and monitor health and safety programs based on industry advancements, best practice, and emerging trends.
- Serious Incidents: Lead investigations into serious incidents, liaising with regulatory bodies as required.
- Safety Strategy: Develop emergency response plans and procedures, including evacuation plans, fire safety protocols, and first aid provisions.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of health and safety incidents, inspections, training, and compliance, and prepare reports for management and regulatory authorities as required.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with management, supervisors, employees, and external stakeholders to promote a positive health and safety culture.
- Evaluation: Monitor and analyse health and safety performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing initiatives to enhance safety practices.
- Extensive qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager or similar role, preferably in a specific industry.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, laws, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Excellent understanding of risk assessment methodologies and the ability to implement appropriate control measures.
- Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and developing corrective action plans.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective training programs and materials.
- Proficient in using relevant software applications and tools for health and safety management.
