About the Role:

Dartmoor National Park Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sector Ranger to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. As a Sector Ranger, you will play a vital role in ensuring the conservation and enhancement of Dartmoor as a vibrant, living, working landscape and community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Rights of Way network across the West of Dartmoor, ensuring everyone has access to and can look after and use the National Park.
  • Undertake visitor management and engagement, patrolling common and access land, providing advice and assistance to the public, and enforcing relevant byelaws where necessary.
  • Contribute to and support activities that promote the special qualities of the National Park, working with volunteers, Youth Rangers, and representing the Authority at events, shows, and Parish Councils.
  • Promote the work of the Authority with the local community and visitors.
  • Organize contractors and volunteers.
  • Provide a point of contact and assist in the management of larger recreational events.

Requirements:

  • Experience in countryside, access, recreation, and visitor management.
  • Experience using strimmers, chainsaws, and handheld power tools.
  • Knowledge of countryside access legislation and countryside law.
  • Familiarity with Dartmoor and local geography.
  • A degree, professional qualification, or substantial experience in Countryside Management (or similar relevant subject).
  • A full, valid driving license.
