About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Manufacturing Design Engineer to join our client's team in a permanent position. The successful candidate will have a strong background in aerospace and composite experience, with a focus on CAD/CAM systems and process development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement manufacturing controls for composite, machining, and assembly processes.
  • Use PFMEA risk analysis and process surveillance to eliminate sources of risk and variation leading to non-conformance.
  • Interpret and understand technical requirements of parts from customer CADD models, engineering drawings, specifications, and instructions.
  • Provide methods, process instructions, tooling, and NC programs for delivery of solutions within agreed timescales and cost.
  • Apply advanced quality planning principles to deliver zero-defect level processes.
  • Ensure effective change control and maintain the highest integrity and attention to detail throughout the development and validation phase.
  • Work with the HS&E Manager to assess the safety and environmental impact of new equipment and processes, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with sub-contractors and technology partners to design, install, and commission new production processes.
Requirements
  • Experience as a manufacturing engineer in an aerospace background.
  • Ability to create and manage plans, communicate direction, resource management, and road to success.
  • Experience of using CADD/CAM systems, including Catia v5 and AlphaCAM.
  • Design and creation of tooling and fixtures, from concept to industrialisation.
  • NC programming (3 and 5-axis milling of composite and metal).
  • Generate technical instructions and routings.
  • Conduct component and process proving, from concept to industrialisation.
  • Proven experience of improving part right first time (PRFT) using detailed data-driven process capability development.
  • Working knowledge and experience of Lean and 6-Sigma principles.
  • Proficient in the use of relevant IT tools, including MS Office and Teams.

They also manufacture sheet metal fabrications and machined metal parts, fully supply kits, and integrated assemblies.
