We are seeking a highly skilled Scheduler to join our team at Metroline Ltd. As a Scheduler, you will be responsible for planning, reviewing, and developing efficient and effective timetables and schedules that meet the requirements of the franchise and service delivery needs.
Main Responsibilities- Timetable and Schedules Ownership
- Compile and implement timetables and driver/vehicle schedules that meet franchise agreement and business requirements.
- Ensure deadlines for producing timetables and driver/vehicle schedules are met.
- Work with the Service Delivery Team and Depot Management Team to introduce temporary schedules to minimize delays due to long-term disruptions such as roadworks.
- Provide information/data regarding schedules as required, including reporting on service change impacts to internal and external partners.
- Prepare and dispatch schedules/duty cards, both paper-based and electronic.
- Efficiency and Continuous Improvement
- Constantly strive to improve driver/vehicle schedule efficiency and service punctuality.
- Work with the Service Delivery team and Depot management to improve the service provided to passengers through improved reliability and maximizing bonuses through the bonus regime.
- Local and Franchised Agreement and Legislation Knowledge
- Maintain a full knowledge of current Operating and Scheduling Agreements.
- Maintain a full knowledge of franchise requirements relating to timetables to be operated and the performance regime.
- Maintain a full knowledge of Domestic Drivers Hours regulations (where different from the Company Scheduling Agreement) and European Drivers Hours Regulations.
- Technology
- Maintain a full knowledge of the computer-based schedules system used by the Company, and be able to assist other members of the Team when necessary.
- Other Duties
- Maintain a full knowledge of the Company's operating area, particularly with regard to Depots and relief point locations.
- Carry out various ad hoc tasks and additional duties as required by Senior Managers/Directors, and where necessary provide cover for other Schedules Compilers/Schedulers in the event of sickness, absence, and holidays.
- Experience of using computer-based scheduling software.
- Understanding of financial and costing procedures.
- Knowledge of the Domestic Driving Hours Regulations.
- Comprehensive geographical knowledge of Greater Manchester, especially Metroline's operating area and depot locations.
- Understanding of franchise and.
- An understanding/appreciation of the franchise environment's requirements, contractual procedures, and obligations, and the management of day-to-day operational issues.
- Experience of Hastus Scheduling software.
- Communication Skills - Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate clearly and at all levels.
- Adaptability and Resilience - Flexibility to adjust to changing industry demands and resilience in working under pressure.
- Analytical Skills - Ability to collate and interpret statistical data and use the insight gained to guide decision-making and improvements, with excellent attention to detail.
- Organisational Skills - Highly organized, motivated, and able to manage and own prioritize workload effectively and work to strict deadlines.
- Stakeholder Management - Must be able to demonstrate credibility to build professional relationships with both employees and managers, and external stakeholders, including the Trade Unions.

- Customer Centricity - Exceptional customer service skills with a natural flair of providing support and guidance and going 'the extra mile'.

Basic 38 hours per week. Flexibility required for hours/days worked (including weekends) in line with operational requirements.
