We are seeking a highly skilled Personal Tax Assistant Manager to join our growing Yorkshire office. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the compliance process, administering the portfolio, and assisting with planning and projects. This role will also involve supervising and reviewing the work of junior staff to ensure high-quality output.
The Role
- Identify planning opportunities and complete self-assessment tax returns for wealthy individuals, partnerships, and trusts.
- Complete associated tax computations, including calculations of capital gains on securities, chattels, and property transactions.
- Complete trust and estate tax returns and ensure technical competence and accuracy of the department's work through review.
- Liaise extensively with clients in relation to day-to-day compliance and planning issues.
- Meet billing targets and adhere to statutory and other deadlines.
The Ideal Candidate
- Must have a strong background in tax and experience in a general practice role in a medium to large-sized firm.
- Experience in organising the delivery of tax work, problem-solving, and using your own initiative.
- Experience of preparing computations from accounts and advisory work or a strong desire to learn.
- Experience of either personal tax, trusts, or both, with a willingness to develop your knowledge on both.
- Experience of using computerised tax packages is an advantage.
The Team
Our North Yorkshire Tax department is a team of 20, including two private client Partners, the Director of Corporate Tax, three Senior Managers, three Managers, three Seniors, three Semi-Seniors, and five Trainees. The mix of work in the group is varied and consists of clients including owner-managed businesses, landed estates, and high-net-worth individuals.
Education and Experience
The ideal candidate must have dealt with a range of tax issues appropriate to our client base of private clients. Experience operating at Senior or Assistant Manager level, CTA, and/or ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) qualified.
Benefits
- 35-hour working week with flexibility around the core hours of 10am-4pm.
- Working from home allowance of £25 a month.
- Eligibility for the firm's Profit-Sharing Plan that runs from October to September each year.
