Job Description

Cathcart Technology, a Scottish SaaS Tech start-up based in Edinburgh, is seeking an experienced PHP Developer (Laravel) to join their growing development function.

This is a great opportunity to make a significant impact on a rapidly growing and popular product.

The company has been in operation for a couple of years and has received significant interest in their product, with a steady pipeline of sales and investment.

They have recently brought their product in-house, as it was previously maintained by a third party, and have ambitious plans for the organization, product, and team over the next few years.

You will be working alongside four other developers, and this is a new position to the business, as they are looking to grow their Edinburgh-based development function.

The product is a business-to-consumer platform designed to streamline the sales process for a better customer experience.

The product is built using modern PHP with Laravel, and the ideal candidate will have good commercial experience with this framework.

The front-end is built using VueJS, although experience with this is not necessary.

There is still a lot of work to be done on the product, as they are looking to move to AWS and add new features, so there will be plenty of work to keep you busy.

You will ideally have experience with the following:

  • PHP (ideally PHP8)
  • Laravel
  • MySQL
  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Experience with the following is highly desirable:

  • VueJS
  • AWS
  • Working in a product environment
  • Working in a tech start-up environment

The company's offices are based in Edinburgh city centre, within walking distance from Waverly station.

You will be expected to work onsite about three times a week for project planning, although there is some flexibility.

In return, they are able to offer a salary from £30k to £50k depending on experience, plus benefits.

There is also plenty of scope for career progression and leadership opportunities within the team, given their growth plans for the next few years.
