GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join our team in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. As a Special Needs Educator, you will work with secondary students who have diverse learning needs, providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Teach secondary aged students with special needs, using an independent learning model and adapting conventional teaching methods to meet individual needs.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students, setting realistic and challenging targets in collaboration with other professionals, parents, and students.
- Mark, assess, and track pupil progress, ensuring students receive tailored education that meets their unique needs.
- Collaborate with Teaching Assistants to define appropriate activities for pupils, focusing on Like Skills and Functional Skills.
- Be knowledgeable about warning signs and triggers, and follow Education Health Care Plans to ensure outcomes are met.
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- At least 6 months experience working in special needs or alternative provisions
- Experience working in an SEN or mainstream setting with secondary-age students
- A thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Team player who works well within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the overall success of the school and its students
- Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to complete one through GSL Education
