As Head of Sport, you'll be responsible for developing and executing a high-impact editorial strategy, leading a talented team of sports journalists, and overseeing the delivery of agenda-setting stories that resonate with our diverse audience.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive editorial strategy that showcases the best of BBC Sport's storytelling capabilities.
  2. Lead and motivate a cross-platform team of journalists, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  3. Oversee the creation and dissemination of high-quality content across BBC Television, BBC Radio, and BBC Online, ensuring consistency and cohesion across all platforms.
  4. Provide creative vision and direction to enhance the quality, depth, and range of journalistic output, driving the development of new ideas and formats.
  5. Collaborate with Editors to develop and implement business plans, monitoring performance and making adjustments as needed to ensure business goals are met.
  6. Lead team management activities, including recruitment, development, training, and employee relations, in line with agreed standards and practices.
  7. Manage designated budgets, identifying and executing solutions to address budgetary pressures and ensuring financial sustainability.
  8. Ensure compliance with legal obligations and regulations, maintaining a deep understanding of BBC's contractual agreements and regulatory requirements.
  9. Create an environment that attracts and retains top journalistic talent, empowering them to deliver their best work.
  10. Represent the BBC at a senior level, driving the implementation and delivery of wider BBC projects and initiatives.
  11. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, navigating complex priorities and competing demands.
