Senior Bioinformatics Research Scientist

To excel as a Senior Bioinformatics Research Scientist, a robust foundation in bioinformatics is essential, particularly in the realms of algorithmic innovation, biomarker discovery, and oncology research. A strong scientific background in at least two of the following areas: Genomics, Statistics, Next Generation Sequencing, and/or High-Performance Computing will be crucial for your success in this role. Depending on your experience level, this position may be adjusted to a more senior role within the bioinformatics team. The position offers flexibility to work from various locations or remotely, accommodating the necessary collaboration across time zones.
Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Bioinformatics Research Scientist will lead the charge in developing cutting-edge genomic solutions that inform treatment strategies based on the molecular profiles of cancers, as well as enhancing early detection and monitoring of malignancies. The primary duties will include:
- Collaborating with experimental and bioinformatics teams to design and analyze experiments that support both existing and new oncology assays.
- Creating and prototyping algorithms for genomic biomarkers that address novel molecular diagnostic requirements.
- Providing expert technical guidance to both internal teams and external partners.
- Engaging in cross-functional research and development teams with minimal oversight.
- Effectively communicating project plans and results across various functions.
Qualifications:
- A PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in at least two of the following: statistics, common bioinformatics methodologies, and NGS data analysis.
- Experience in developing bioinformatics algorithms and methodologies for NGS.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C.
- Strong communication skills to facilitate collaboration within cross-functional project teams and with stakeholders.
