Job Opportunity

Midlothian Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Consultant Engineer to join their Road Services team based in Midlothian House, Dalkeith.

This role will be responsible for designing, consulting, and delivering flood risk management plans for both proactive and reactive situations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in roads engineering, with a focus on flood risk management, and experience working collaboratively with internal and external colleagues.

The successful candidate will work on a variety of exciting projects, including urbanization of routes, new carriageway construction, active travel to new school campuses, and circa 100 RCC developments. They will also have the opportunity to work on large-scale projects as part of the ongoing development of Midlothian, the largest growing local authority in Scotland.

The ideal candidate will hold a Degree in Civil Engineering and Full Chartered Civil Engineer status, with previous experience in highway design, asset management, and roads maintenance. They will also have experience in the design of road safety and traffic management schemes, as well as the use of Microsoft Office or similar software packages.

Driver's license advantageous.

Contract Status: Permanent

Hours of Work: 36

Working Pattern: Full Time - Standard 36 hour week

Weeks per year: 52

Please note that it is Midlothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Full Time - Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £44,895.

Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard.
