Senior Python Engineer - Financial Technology

Compensation: Up to £100k + Benefits

We are in search of a skilled Senior Python Engineer to become part of a dynamic Financial Technology firm, characterized by a diverse team of software engineers, quantitative analysts, and finance experts. This organization is dedicated to improving client engagement in investment management through the use of advanced portfolio construction and analytical tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and guide a medium-sized engineering team.
  • Interact with external clients and stakeholders to comprehend their requirements and devise solutions for data integration into the company's data infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather requirements and propose innovative solutions.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of foreign exchange and interest rate products, along with their respective financial markets and data sources.
  • Deploy cloud-native solutions on AWS, including RESTful APIs and event-driven microservices, utilizing frameworks such as Django and FastAPI.
  • Design data models that accurately represent complex trade scenarios across various asset classes, primarily using MySQL and MongoDB.
  • Produce efficient, testable, and maintainable Python code, with an emphasis on performance and observability.
  • Engage with performance-critical systems developed in Rust; experience with Rust is essential.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in team leadership.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience in financial or market risk modeling is advantageous but not mandatory; a strong interest in finance is expected.
  • Ability to conceptualize and design financial object models.
  • Proficiency in Python is required, with experience in additional modern programming languages being beneficial.
  • Familiarity with database technologies such as MongoDB, MySQL, and DynamoDB is valuable.
  • Experience with AWS is a plus but not essential.
  • A willingness to explore and adopt new technologies to enhance the platform.
