Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Battery Test Engineer to join our team at Millbrook, Bedford. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out all types of battery testing, including performance, life cycle, durability, safety, abuse, and environmental testing.
The role requires close and constructive interaction with customers to ensure all activities meet their specifications and deliver the required information in a timely manner. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their technical skills and participate in the continuous development of processes and facilities within the battery test department.
Responsibilities- Liaise with customers to establish testing requirements and ensure tests are prepared, executed, and reported to the highest standards.
- Establish test content, including review and inclusion of any regulatory requirements.
- Prepare internal test execution documentation.
- Ensure all Health and Safety and quality procedures are adhered to.
- Develop Risk Assessments and support a strong culture of safe working.
- Programme test equipment.
- Undertake analysis of results, including statements of conformity or engineering observations and interpretations.
- Apply continuous improvement methods to activities and facilities to ensure ever-improving processes and test methods.
- Degree or equivalent in technical or electrical disciplines.
- Minimum of 2 years' hands-on experience performing tests within a lab or workshop environment, or working in the design and development of batteries, especially those containing lithium.
- Working with electric vehicles or sub-systems or other relevant HV systems.
- Experienced in CAN.
- Development and commissioning of test rigs and apparatus.
- A clear understanding and ability to assess relevant health and safety risks.
- Selection and application of various types of instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Practiced in data analysis and presentation.
- Writing of technical reports.
- Understanding of relevant international standards, in particular UN/ECE Reg. 100, Reg 132, and "38.3" for batteries and Quality assurance, particularly ISO 9001 and ISO 17025.
