Key Responsibilities:
As a Logistics Operations Supervisor, your primary focus will be on the proficient management of drivers and vehicle assets, ensuring the punctual delivery and retrieval of technical equipment for various events, in line with client service level agreements (SLAs). Your essential duties will encompass:
- Resource Allocation: Strategically plan and oversee driver and vehicle resources to fulfill delivery and collection timelines while complying with client SLAs.
- Coordination with Shunting Teams: Collaborate with the shunting team to supervise pre-loading and unloading activities.
- Service Level Assurance: Work alongside other departments to guarantee that service levels are consistently met and upheld.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to the Working Time Directive (WTD) and drivers' hours regulations, optimizing resources as necessary.
- Route Optimization: Utilize the driver schedule to devise routes that align with shift patterns, available hours, and considerations for absences.
- Equipment Management: Establish a sign-in/sign-out protocol to effectively manage equipment.
- Legal Adherence: Monitor and ensure compliance with legal standards regarding vehicle defects, servicing, MOTs, and other regulatory obligations.
- Incident Oversight: Investigate fleet damages, road traffic incidents (RTIs), and high potential near misses (HPNMs), escalating matters to management for further action.
- Disciplinary Actions: Conduct disciplinary meetings, return-to-work discussions, and substance misuse procedures as required.
- Risk Management: Organize and perform risk assessments at the depot as necessary.
- Accident Documentation: Ensure that all accidents, incidents, and near misses are recorded and reported according to company protocols.
- Driver Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers, providing accurate start times, load details, directions, and information on additional shifts.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all statutory and legal requirements, including health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Driver Briefings: Conduct pre-briefings and debriefings for drivers, ensuring that company standards are upheld.
Qualifications:
To excel in the role of Logistics Operations Supervisor, candidates should possess the following skills, experience, and qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge and experience of tachograph regulations and driving laws.
- A CPC National qualification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Prior management or supervisory experience.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with a high level of numeracy.
- Effective negotiation abilities, with the capacity to influence and guide decisions.
- The capability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Road Transport Directive and current drivers' hours legislation.
