Position Overview

Are you interested in becoming a vital part of a collaborative healthcare team while enjoying a degree of independence in your role?

The Adult Community Speech and Language Therapy service is seeking a dedicated Clinical Assistant to enhance our compassionate team.

As a Clinical Assistant in Speech and Language Therapy, your responsibilities will encompass both administrative tasks and direct patient care. You will assist in delivering therapy to individuals experiencing communication or swallowing challenges. This support may be provided through individual sessions (both in-person and online) or in group settings. Additionally, you will manage our communication devices, including tablets, which are essential for aiding patients with communication barriers. The Clinical Assistant will also play a role in voice banking for patients who wish to preserve their vocal identity for use in communication technologies.

The Dorset Adult Community SLT Team is committed to innovative practices and continuous improvement. Our team is known for its empathy, support, and forward-thinking approach. You will receive guidance from qualified Speech and Language Therapists and have opportunities for professional growth and mentorship.

This Clinical Assistant position is part-time, with a flexible schedule. The role involves travel to various locations to meet patients in their homes, making a valid driver's license a requirement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with the Adult Speech and Language Therapy team to deliver high-quality, individualized therapy to adults facing communication and swallowing challenges.

2. Operate independently under the direction of Speech and Language Therapists to assist in developing care plans and providing therapy.

3. Offer confidential administrative and IT support to the Speech and Language Therapy Service.

4. Ensure the upkeep and preparation of communication aids utilized within the service.

Employment in this role necessitates an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
