Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Transport Planner to join our team at a family-run 3PL business. As a Transport Planner, you will play a crucial role in optimizing our transportation network, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Optimization: Analyze and optimize our existing and potential contracts to improve transportation efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Project Management: Identify and execute projects to improve the quality and efficiency of our transportation operation.
  • Route Planning: Plan and optimize routes for our transportation network, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods.
  • Contract Management: Work closely with our business development team to win and bring on board new contracts.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, drivers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth transportation operations.
  • Tachograph Analysis: Analyze tachograph data to optimize driver hours and reduce costs.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports to our directors on transportation efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in transport planning, preferably in a logistics operation.
  • Skills: Excellent knowledge of manual transport planning, UK geographical transport knowledge, and MS Excel skills.
  • Education: Relevant qualifications in logistics or transportation management.
  • Personal Qualities: Excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to work at a higher level, and strong analytical skills.

Working Hours: 4 on 4 off days, typically 6am - 4pm.
