About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and communicative Ward Clerk to join our team at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to the surgical short stay unit, ensuring the smooth operation of the department.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide clerical support to the ward team, including updating patient records and IT systems.
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and medical colleagues to maintain a high standard of service.
- Sort and distribute mail, and re-address discharged patients' mail as necessary.
- Support ward staff with telephone enquiries and provide training to new members of staff.
Person Specification
Essential
- Good basic education.
- Able to communicate clearly with a wide range of people, including consultants, junior doctors, nurses, patients, and relatives.
Desirable
- GCSEs or equivalent.
- Clear, good telephone manner.
