Job Overview

1st Step Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Construction Manager to lead the electrical services delivery on a newly secured Life Sciences project. The ideal candidate will have a track record in the commercial sector on projects with values between £5-£10 million.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee the electrical services delivery, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and client requirements.
  2. Manage and coordinate the on-site construction team, including electrical and external contractors.
  3. Implement project health & safety strategies, ensuring the highest consideration is given to current regulations and client requirements.
  4. Proactively demonstrate health and safety leadership and monitoring on site, ensuring safety standards are understood, implemented, and maintained by all team members and contractors.
  5. Audit supply chain works onsite in line with approved RAMS.
  6. Compile project and task-specific RAMS, ensuring they are updated in line with project progress.
  7. Lead the management of the mechanical and electrical safe system of works.
  8. Manage the collation of sub-contractors' environmental data.
  9. Monitor and manage the project risk register, ensuring weekly look-ahead plans for resource and progress.
  10. Implement project QA strategies, conducting detailed quality assurance inspections of installations in accordance with the QA procedure.
  11. Lead quality assurance meetings, demonstrating a detailed understanding of completed areas.
  12. Coordinate trade-to-trade handover processes.
  13. Manage supply chain snagging and de-snagging processes.
  14. Audit construction installation works to ensure compliance with electrical requirements.
  15. Coordinate the management and auditing of installation works to ensure compliance with project strategies.
  16. Ensure sub-contractors work to the programme, construction sequence, and efficient deployment.
  17. Take ownership of electrical issues, liaising with the client and design consultants to obtain closure and clarifications.
  18. Conduct toolbox talks with sub-contractors.
  19. Review ongoing works, highlighting potential defects or risks.
  20. Complete accurate project materials take-off as allocated by the project procurement process.
Requirements
  1. Industry-relevant City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or above.
  2. SMSTS certification.
  3. Previous experience as an Electrical Construction Manager.
  4. Ability to influence and drive positive attitudes and behaviors regarding site health and safety.
  5. Experience dealing with electrical sub-contractors.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
  7. Understanding of building services, including design principles, method statements, inspection test plans, risk assessments, commissioning, and handover requirements.
