Position Overview

The Construction Assurance Manager plays a pivotal role in the Capital Delivery sector, specifically within Major Projects, ensuring the successful execution of Thames Water's water and wastewater treatment initiatives. This position is vital for maintaining the highest standards throughout the construction process, from initial design through to final completion, adhering to all asset, safety, environmental, and quality regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to environmental standards in asset design and project delivery, collaborating with contractors to resolve issues and enhance performance.
  • Develop and lead a team of Construction Assurance Engineers and Operational Integration Engineers, ensuring projects meet operational requirements. This includes managing a team of up to 8 engineers.
  • Oversee the contributions of consultant specialists and subject matter experts, ensuring construction phase assurance for designated projects.
  • Ensure compliance with current Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations.
  • Support contractors and Operations Integration during the design phase, advocating for innovation, best practices, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Asset Management, Engineering, and Operations to identify synergies and apply lessons learned from past projects to optimize solutions.
  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of contractors and consultants.
  • Lead the Integration team to clarify and secure agreement on project deliverables among all stakeholders.
  • Review and authorize project plans, including the Project Delivery Plan, Commissioning Plan, and testing plans.
  • Evaluate contractor schedules and ensure they align with other projects and isolations.
  • Assess and report on weekly progress against the established programme.

Work Environment

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing flexibility to work from home within the Thames Water regions, with the expectation of travel 3-4 days per week within a 36-hour work schedule.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Possess an engineering degree or substantial experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrate sufficient knowledge and capability for the technical review of project specifications.
  • Hold a NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate.
  • Have a solid understanding of the development, design, construction, and operation of water and wastewater projects or significant experience in a comparable process environment.
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of performance and quality management principles.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive salary ranging from £65,000 to £78,000 annually.
  • Annual car allowance of £5,800.
