Job Title: Maths Teacher for Pupils with Medical Needs

TeacherActive is recruiting for a strong outreach Maths Teacher to provide one-on-one teaching for pupils who are medically unable to attend mainstream education in the North London area.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Maths Teacher to deliver high-quality Maths education tailored to the needs of each individual pupil in their home environment or working with small groups of pupils in a local library or school site.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver Engaging Maths Lessons: Provide tailored Maths lessons to pupils in their homes, ensuring content is engaging and adapted to individual learning needs and medical circumstances.
  2. Assess and Create Lesson Plans: Assess pupil needs and create personalised lesson plans in line with the national curriculum, while also accommodating each pupil's specific medical condition and learning pace.
  3. Monitor Progress and Report: Monitor and report on pupil progress, regularly updating school staff and parents/guardians.
  4. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, attendance, and pupil progress.
  5. Liaise with Professionals: Liaise with medical professionals if requested, parents, and the school to ensure that teaching aligns with any health plans or medical considerations.
  6. Collaborate with Team: Collaborate with other outreach teachers, SENCO, and the wider school staff to ensure continuity of learning for each pupil.
  7. Adapt Teaching Techniques: Adapt teaching techniques to use a variety of learning resources to support engagement and understanding.
  8. Promote Confidence: Promote confidence and enthusiasm for learning Maths, helping pupils to stay motivated despite challenging circumstances.
  9. Support Transitions: Encourage pupil reintegration into mainstream education when appropriate, providing support during transitions.
  10. Professional Development: Attend regular training sessions to stay informed on best practices for working with pupils with medical needs and SEND.
Requirements:

We are looking for a qualified Maths Teacher with:

  1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  2. Degree in Mathematics or a related subject.
  3. SEND training or experience working with pupils with additional needs (desirable).

Experience in teaching Maths, preferably across a range of key stages (KS2-KS4), and experience working with pupils who have medical needs or special educational needs (SEND) is highly desirable.
