Position Overview:
The role of a Passenger Assistant (PA) involves accompanying children and young adults, particularly those with additional needs, during their transport to and from educational institutions. Currently, there are around 800 students aged 4-25 utilizing Home to School transport services, which may involve traveling in either a minibus or taxi. This position primarily serves as a relief role, covering for PAs who are unavailable, with potential shifts occurring Monday through Friday. Candidates should be prepared for possible last-minute cover requests, which may vary in duration from half a day to longer assignments. This position offers a fulfilling experience with diverse interactions, allowing you to gain valuable insights while supporting students in their journey to schools across the region.
Prior to starting, candidates will receive one day of classroom training, followed by shadowing an experienced PA on a route. It is essential that applicants reside within the Plymouth City Council Area, as hours are variable and you will be included in a relief register for coverage as needed.
Requirements:
- Availability for immediate work or short notice.
- Eligibility to work in the U.K.
- An enhanced DBS check is mandatory for this role.
