Job Opportunity: Building Control Technician

Aatom Recruitment is seeking a skilled Building Control Technician to join our team on a 6-month contract. The successful candidate may be offered full-time employment based on performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a designated area to ensure compliance with building control legislation.
  • Assist with implementing marketing strategies, service delivery, quality initiatives, and fee recovery.
  • Manage a caseload and meet objectives for programmed and reactive work within set timescales.
  • Provide detailed information on individual cases or projects for senior officers at regular case reviews.
Requirements:
  • A recognized degree in construction, surveying, or a related field, leading to corporate membership of RICS or equivalent.
  • A basic knowledge of at least one of the following: building construction, structural engineering, fire safety in buildings, or supervision of building work on site.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of main legislation, including the Building Act 1984 and the Building Regulations.
Working Environment:

The role involves frequent lone working and site inspections, which may require the use of ladders, scaffolding, and descending into excavations. The postholder may be exposed to noise and dirt on site.

Although initially allocated to one area team, the postholder may be required to transfer between teams.

Building regulation work is carried out in a commercial environment, requiring the postholder to balance public service needs with those of operating in competition with the private sector.
