Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the respectful and calm handling of livestock, adhering to all animal welfare regulations.
  • Transport cattle safely, minimizing stress and injury, while complying with all legal requirements.
  • Oversee the conditions during transport to enhance animal welfare and meat quality, including temperature control and careful driving.
  • Verify that animals are fit for travel, maintaining responsibility from loading to unloading.
  • Plan efficient routes while observing necessary rest periods.
  • Maintain professional communication with clients regarding collection schedules.
  • Safely load livestock, considering factors such as stocking density and weather conditions.
  • Monitor the needs of animals during transit, providing water, feed, and rest as required.
  • Conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection of vehicles between loads.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, including journey logs and compliance with livestock transport regulations.
  • Perform routine vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and report any issues.
  • Manage administrative tasks, including fuel receipt collection.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle and trailer.

Candidate Requirements:
  • Proven experience in cattle handling is essential.
  • Mechanical aptitude is beneficial.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
  • Valid driving license (Category C / CE) is required.
  • Current driver CPC and digital tachograph card are mandatory.
  • Animal Transport by Road - Short Journey certification is preferred but not essential.
