In this role, you will assist in the management of accounting processes for our End of Life Services sector. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Weekly Financial Reconciliation: Compile and reconcile sales data across all ELS areas, ensuring accurate posting of cash statements and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Collaboration with Management: Work closely with the management team to address finance-related inquiries and conduct monthly financial performance reviews, providing actionable insights.
  • Investment Reporting: Oversee the preparation and submission of funeral plan investments to our partners, ensuring timely and accurate information from the Funeral Planning administrators.
  • Accounting for Funeral Plans: Manage all aspects of funeral plan accounting, including deficits and excesses.
  • Management Accounts Reporting: Take charge of the monthly reporting for End of Life Funeral Operations, ensuring high-quality outputs and adherence to deadlines.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Conduct monthly reconciliations, including funeral debtors and the creation of Bad Debt Provisions.
  • Credit Control: Handle credit control for funeral homes, providing necessary documentation for debt write-offs and liaising with external debt management services.
  • Budget Preparation Assistance: Support the Finance Manager in preparing budgets and quarterly forecasts for End of Life Services.
  • Resolution of Queries: Assist the Financial Processing Team Manager in addressing discrepancies in the Purchase Invoice Matching system.
  • Cash Management: Participate in the weekly cash management system close-down procedures and flash sales reporting.
  • Ad Hoc Financial Duties: Undertake other finance-related tasks as needed, focusing on improving processes and efficiency.

Key Skills Required:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge when necessary.
  • Experience in Management Accounting.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Excel and a high level of IT literacy.
  • AAT qualification is essential.
  • Progress towards CIMA is desirable.
