Overview:

This position is part of the Infrastructure Change Team and focuses on managing workstreams within the PLAN2TRACK programme. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in project management within a change-oriented environment, with a comprehensive understanding of the operational processes utilized by maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Effectively manage individual projects or segments of projects, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental standards, timelines, budgets, and quality metrics, in line with the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) and relevant company standards.
  2. Deliver a professional and consistent project management service, utilizing performance indicators and reporting systems as per Railway Group and company guidelines.
  3. Oversee the development and execution of change initiatives, ensuring compliance with established company protocols.
  4. Identify and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle for assigned schemes.
  5. Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment during project execution.
  6. Adhere to the Investment Competence Framework.
  7. Prepare and manage comprehensive project management plans.
  8. Monitor and control project budgets to meet financial targets.
  9. Provide regular updates on project progress, including potential risks and issues, to the Programme Manager.
  10. Encourage and track the implementation of efficiency improvement strategies.
  11. Share insights and lessons learned from project experiences.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in project management.
  • Relevant educational background, such as HNC/HND or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Experience in project safety management.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Projects.
  • Understanding of safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of commercial and financial management practices.

Desirable:

  • Membership or progress towards membership in a professional project management organization.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.
