May Lane Surgery is a friendly and established GP practice serving approximately 10,000 patients in Dursley, Gloucestershire. We are a dedicated team of healthcare professionals committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Practice Nurse with a specialist interest in diabetes to join our team.

This is a part-time role, offering 2-3 days per week with a flexible working pattern. The exact hours can be negotiated to suit your needs.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional diabetic care services to our patients, including assessment, treatment planning, and ongoing management of diabetes-related conditions.
  • Manage long-term conditions effectively, identifying significant abnormalities, diagnosing, monitoring, and developing individualized management plans in collaboration with patients and other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform wound care using aseptic techniques, assist with minor surgery, and provide diagnosis, treatment plans, and compression bandaging for leg ulcers.
  • Conduct opportunistic venepuncture, screen blood pressure, height, weight, and urine samples.
  • Promote health and well-being through smoking cessation clinics, healthy eating advice, exercise recommendations, safe alcohol consumption guidance, and provision of relevant health promotion materials.
  • Administer vaccinations and immunizations as required.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-skilled team to ensure seamless patient care.

Your Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with the NMC.
  • Recognized qualification/training in diabetes management is highly desirable.
  • Experience in primary care is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with SystmOne/TPP and Ardens systems is advantageous.
