Role Overview


This position is responsible for achieving commercial targets and executing marketing strategies with an assigned supplier portfolio of approximately 125 suppliers, generating around £1.25 million in below-the-line revenue across £20 million in spend. You will take ownership of the complete product life cycle within designated categories to meet range and financial objectives while aligning with business needs and customer demand.


Key Responsibilities:

Supplier, Product & Category Management:
- Manage supplier relationships and categories for designated portfolios.
- Ensure effective delivery and tracking of supplier commercial revenues.
- Source new products in line with internal strategies and customer retention initiatives.
- Conduct price management, range reviews, competitor analysis, and market updates.
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop exit strategies for slow-moving and short-dated products.
- Maintain awareness of stock holding and risk within owned categories.
- Stay informed about product regulatory compliance and implement necessary actions.
- Address industry challenges and changes across relevant categories.
- Ensure accuracy in supplier billing and minimize finance-related queries.
- Perform regular product benchmarking and competitor analysis.

Internal Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Marketing to align trading strategies with consumer insights.
  • Enhance margins through product swaps and effective relationships with the Sales Team.
  • Present proactive plans and category insights to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Clearly manage expectations and timelines for internal customers.
  • Coordinate with the Supply Chain team to ensure supply continuity.
  • Share best practices and supplier information with relevant counterparts.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and efficiently under time constraints.
  • Organized and methodical approach to work, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Understanding of key metrics affecting commercial revenues.
  • Strong knowledge of the Foodservice marketplace.
  • Experience managing relationships within the product supply chain.
  • Confident in delivering presentations.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong numeracy skills with a minimum of GCSE grade C(4) or equivalent.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, with experience in Office 365, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • FMCG product knowledge, ideally from the 'out of home' sector.
  • Experience managing the product lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to track and report on personal revenue targets.
  • Experience working collaboratively in an office environment.
  • Understanding of product allergens and food legislation.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience in the Food, FMCG, or related industries.
  • Background in managing supplier or customer portfolios.
  • Familiarity with traditional and digital marketing execution.
  • Understanding of sales processes for large or complex accounts.
