Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Specialist Mammography Radiographer to join our esteemed team at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This role requires a profound understanding of mammography techniques and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a comprehensive mammographic service across multiple healthcare facilities.
  • Utilize specialized expertise to conduct mammography examinations with precision and care.
  • Ensure patient comfort and care are prioritized throughout the examination process.
  • Engage empathetically with patients, particularly those experiencing distress, to foster cooperation during procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues, patients, and visitors, promoting a professional and supportive environment.
  • Adhere to all local protocols and demonstrate a thorough understanding of Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R) and Health and Safety standards.
  • Participate in the provision of general radiographic services as required.
  • Supervise and mentor Assistant Practitioners and student Radiographers, ensuring quality in their work.
  • Participate in out-of-hours services and on-call rotations as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with patients who may have language barriers or special needs, ensuring clarity and understanding during procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • BSc in Radiography or equivalent qualification.
  • Current HPC Registration.
  • Post Graduate qualification in mammography or a commitment to pursue relevant training.
  • PGc Mammography Certificate.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
