Fintellect Recruitment is seeking an experienced Head of Internal Audit to join our client, a fast-growing challenger bank in the UK market. As a key member of the leadership team, you will be responsible for providing independent, objective assurance to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes within the bank.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a risk-based audit plan to ensure the bank's risk management and control framework is effective and efficient.
- Provide periodic opinions on the overall effectiveness of the governance, culture, and risk and control framework across the bank.
- Issue regular reports to the Board Audit Committee and other relevant boards and committees regarding progress of the plan and budget, emerging risks, and trends.
- Ensure the adequacy of resource levels, knowledge, and experience within the Internal Audit function to support the delivery of effective and independent assurance.
- Develop and utilize a robust audit methodology that meets the requirements of the Institute of Internal Audit Standards and good practice.
- Provide leadership to the Internal Audit function in line with the bank's vision, strategy, policies, regulations, and values and behaviors.
- Support management across the bank in improving the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal controls.
- Ensure that audit findings are accurately recorded, tracked, and validated, and that management provide meaningful and realistic actions to close any audit issues.
- At least 10 years' experience in a senior role within financial services (audit/risk/governance).
- Good knowledge of internal auditing, the IIA standards (mandatory for bank auditing), and experience in delivering audit programs and working with management and Board Audit Committee on how much auditing to do and effective closure of audit findings.
- Ability to negotiate with senior management by utilizing knowledge (both business and technical subject areas).
- Aligns with the strategies, objectives, and risks of the organization.
- Demonstrates quality and continuous improvement.
- Provides risk-based assurance.
- ACMA or ACCA qualified.
