Part Time PhD Researcher Opportunity at Harper Adams University

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated member of staff to undertake a part-time PhD research project at Harper Adams University. This is an exciting opportunity for staff to enhance their research skills and contribute to the university's research strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in a specific area aligned with the university's research strategy and areas of research activity.
  • Work closely with supervisors to develop and implement a research project plan.
  • Attend regular meetings with supervisors and contribute to the development of the research project.
  • Participate in research-related activities and events, including conferences and workshops.
  • Contribute to the dissemination of research findings through publications and presentations.

Requirements:

  • Staff must be employed by Harper Adams University and have a strong interest in research.
  • Staff must have a clear research proposal and identified supervisors.
  • Staff must have a letter of support from their Head of Department confirming the time allocation for the PhD.

Procedure:

  1. Staff must discuss their interest in undertaking a part-time PhD with their PDR reviewer.
  2. Staff must submit a PhD application through Stonefish, including a research proposal, letter of support from their Head of Department, and a letter explaining why they wish to undertake a part-time PhD.
  3. Applications will be assessed by the Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Director of Postgraduate Research.
  4. Successful applicants will be interviewed by the APVCR, DoPGR, proposed DoS, and a research active colleague with subject expertise.
  5. Applicants will attend the PGR student induction and start their PhD in the next academic year.
