The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) division at Amazon is essential to our operational success – they ensure that critical machinery remains functional at all times.
As an RME Technician, your role will involve maintaining a diverse array of equipment and work environments while adhering to Health and Safety best practices.
Your contributions will help safeguard your colleagues and minimize machine downtime. Our RME Technicians enhance the availability and quality of our equipment while also improving the operational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform proactive and preventative maintenance on various site equipment
- Execute reactive repairs and conduct fault diagnosis in an active distribution center
- Utilize advanced tools to optimize equipment performance
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and practices
- Assist in the training and development of onsite apprentices
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices across multiple sites
A Day in the Life:
Our RME Technicians operate on-site, allowing for swift responses to any machinery issues. You will conduct planned preventative maintenance to ensure equipment operates safely. As an RME Technician, you will also promptly address breakdowns, investigating and implementing solutions as quickly as possible while suggesting long-term enhancements.
Collaborating with senior team members, you will handle day-to-day maintenance tasks such as plumbing and painting, and coordinate with contractors when external expertise is required.
You will work various shifts to ensure our sites are supported around the clock, enabling Amazon to maintain its renowned delivery speed.
About the Team:
Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering team is dedicated to keeping our equipment functioning optimally. We are a technically skilled group, comprised of excellent collaborators and guided by experienced leaders. Together, we maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across our global network of fulfillment centers.
Some team members take on leadership roles, overseeing projects involving innovative technology, some of which is unique to Amazon.
From installing automated packaging systems to managing general site maintenance and repairing essential distribution equipment, our team addresses most technical aspects of Amazon's operations. This includes ensuring compliance with safety regulations, guaranteeing a safe environment, and maximizing operational efficiency.
There are numerous opportunities for career advancement, both within the RME team and throughout Amazon.
Our focus is on minimizing downtime in Amazon's critical operations, ensuring timely order fulfillment for our customers. We often work during early or late hours to perform maintenance with minimal disruption, including night shifts.
