The successful candidate will become part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team dedicated to providing a new service focused on the mental health needs of children and adolescents.
This position is ideal for a psychiatrist with a deep understanding of child development, neurodiversity, and adolescent mental health. The role requires a commitment to reflective practice and collaboration within a multi-disciplinary framework. The consultant will be tasked with delivering a superior clinical service while also contributing to the leadership and strategic growth of the service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing and prioritizing referrals within a collaborative professional environment.
- Providing local consultation and guidance prior to referrals when necessary.
- Conducting joint evaluations with senior psychological professionals and managing cases of youth experiencing gender incongruence.
- Performing comprehensive assessments aligned with established protocols, utilizing advanced clinical expertise.
- Assisting in the formulation of care plans, applying clinical judgment regarding prioritization and expected timelines.
- Coordinating with other healthcare providers and social services to ensure optimal patient care.
- Offering consultation and support to the multi-disciplinary team, including complex case management and risk assessment.
- Conducting holistic consultations tailored to the age and needs of children and adolescents, addressing various aspects of their well-being.
- Actively participating in the multi-disciplinary team, leading the development of individualized care plans for each young person.
- Effectively communicating intricate information with sensitivity to a specialized caseload of young individuals and their families.
