About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Editorial Director to join our team at Penguin Books Limited. As a key member of our publishing team, you will be responsible for commissioning and managing a portfolio of non-fiction titles that align with our company's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commissioning and managing a portfolio of 10-15 non-fiction titles per year, with a focus on big ideas, career, performance, and research-led behavioral change.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with authors, agents, and other external partners to identify and secure new book opportunities.
  • Managing the complete publishing cycle of your books, including liaison with key departments, authors, and external partners.
  • Leading and mentoring junior team members to develop their skills and confidence as commissioners.
  • Networking and building relationships with authors, agents, and other partners in the UK and internationally.
Requirements

We are looking for a creative and highly motivated individual with a proven track record in non-fiction publishing. You will have a deep understanding of the market, a strong network of contacts, and excellent communication and project management skills.

You will be able to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. A strong understanding of diversity and inclusion principles is also essential.
