Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Manager to join our team at Amwins Global Risks. As a Technical Manager, you will play a key role in driving the success of our business by providing technical expertise and leadership to our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership
    • Set clear objectives and priorities for your team, aligned with the business goals
    • Maintain effective working relationships with other functions to ensure aligned communication and culture
    • Work with the management team to foster a 'one team' culture, focusing on results and client service through performance and resilience
    • Support the development of team members, providing guidance and technical support as needed
    • Take a lead role in recruitment, conducting interviews and selecting new team members
    • Monitor and evaluate team performance, using data to inform decisions
    • Delegate responsibilities to empower team members and drive productivity
  • Relationship Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring trust and confidence in our business
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Contribute to the development of our business strategy, policy, and procedures, ensuring consistency and alignment
    • Drive the implementation of initiatives to improve our service and offerings, supporting business growth
    • Lead and contribute to process improvement projects and technical training requirements
    • Work with the Operations Manager to identify and implement solutions to issues and problems
  • Service Delivery
    • Ensure our team delivers exceptional service to internal and external clients
    • Analyze management information to track service delivery and identify areas for improvement
    • Responsible for achieving service level agreements, reviewing them regularly with the Operations Manager
  • Resource Management
    • Work with the Operations Manager and Planning & Performance Manager to review performance and ensure appropriate resourcing
    • Set team member objectives and assign tasks as needed
    • Monitor team workloads, productivity, and quality of work
  • People Management
    • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings and quarterly performance reviews with team members
    • Coach team members and identify development opportunities
    • Manage and monitor absence and holiday requests
    • Address unsatisfactory performance and problem behavior
  • Technical
    • Have a technical case load, working at an Expert Technician level or higher
    • Produce and analyze regular management information

Requirements

  • Technical, system, and communication knowledge to operate at an Expert Technician level
  • Aptitude and appetite for people management
  • Commit to being in the office at least 3 days per week
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • CII Certificate qualified, Diploma preferable
