About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at South Gloucestershire Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of traffic signals across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out periodic visual inspections of traffic signals and accurately record any faults or issues.
- Diagnose and repair basic traffic signal faults to ensure our sites are operational and safe.
- Contribute to site upgrade or new installation decisions, making judgements on the best action for design and specification.
- Ensure compliance with legislation and guidance, including Safety at Streetworks and Road Works code of practice.
- Provide feedback for design and client functions, including specification, site trials, and asset database management.
- Manage financial implications of tasks and consider cost-effectiveness of repair or replacement.
Requirements
- Hold a relevant qualification, such as NVQ 3 or equivalent.
- Have working knowledge and experience of electrical installation and maintenance of electrical units in traffic signals.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and experience of safe working practices, including H&S legislation.
- Confident, practical knowledge of traffic signal maintenance best practice, techniques, and working methods.
- Ability to identify problems and recommend workable and cost-effective solutions.
- Proven experience of working as part of a team and meeting service standards, targets, and deadlines.
