About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Explosives Detection Dog Handler to join our team at Securitas Security Services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering an explosives detection dog screening capability to the aviation sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To screen cargo in accordance with UK regulations using technical and canine methods.
  • To maintain the operational capability of the Explosives Detection Dog (EDD).
  • To conduct on-the-job training and continuation training for the EDD.
  • To deploy when required in support of the wider business.
  • To produce and maintain records associated with EDD training.
  • To maintain rigid and documented control over all training aids.
  • To maintain a positive relationship with the animal under your control.
  • To diarise all events and incidents.
  • To manage customer requests to a satisfactory resolution and supply feedback to all relevant parties.
  • To be the lead on matters Health and Safety relating to the task, ensuring the contracted site is compliant with all regulations.
  • To ensure compliance with British Standards, ACS requirements, and Canine SOPs.
  • To proactively promote and enhance the company name and reputation to a wide audience of existing customers and service partners.
  • To ensure that all incidents are reported in compliance with company policy and procedure.
  • To demonstrate understanding and implementation of the Values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness.
Essential Skills

Essential Criteria:

  • Right to work in the UK with a 5-year checkable history.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a Team environment.
  • Ability to communicate with customers and colleagues at all levels.
  • Good observation skills and attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication.

Desirable:

  • Previous Home Office/MoD dog handling experience.
  • Qualified security dog handler (any discipline).
  • Previous experience in the aviation sector.
