Field Engineer Role Overview

The Field Engineer will collaborate closely with the Lead Field Engineer and contribute to the Network Operations team. This position is a permanent role within the organization.

The salary range for this position is between £51,245 and £76,229 annually, based on experience, along with a 3% bonus.

Note: Successful candidates will be required to complete a medical assessment and a background check.

Job Purpose:

This role involves working as part of a dedicated team within the Eastern Region. Responsibilities include supporting the Capital Programme, Connections, and Faults operations. The role requires effective communication with customers, network operations, and the management of field staff and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols in all tasks.
  • Manage the timely, cost-effective, and quality delivery of maintenance, construction, and fault resolution work.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures and maintain high-quality standards among staff.
  • Plan and coordinate daily operations, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
  • Communicate effectively with HV/LV control, including submission of HV/LV switching logs and compliance with distribution safety rules.
  • Update the Asset Database (SAP) with completed work.
  • Provide technical support to field personnel.
  • Address and resolve contract-related issues with Contract Management support.
  • Develop Risk Assessments and Method Statements for safe project execution.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on completed work and address any identified issues.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers to meet their expectations.
  • Be prepared to assist in other areas as needed.
  • Participate in out-of-hours safety and emergency response as required.

Nature and Scope:

This position plays a vital role in managing the delivery of all maintenance, capital projects, connections, and fault work within a designated area. Working alongside the scheduling team, Work Planner, and Field Staff, the Field Engineer will ensure excellent service delivery to customers, meeting the Guaranteed Service Standards.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Band F = LV Field Engineer / Trainee Engineer
  • Band E = 11k SAP (with ONC)
  • Band D = 33kv SAP (with HNC)
  • LV authorization on the EPN network
  • Proficient in IT, including MRS and SAP
  • Valid driving license

Desirable:

  • ONC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • NRSWA (City & Guilds) Supervisors certificate
  • IOSH Managing Safely certificate
  • Familiarity with MS Excel
