Chief Security Officer

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to join our team as the Chief Security Officer at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in security management, preferably in a healthcare setting, with strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are required, along with knowledge of law, security systems and technologies, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations with calm and efficiency.
The Chief Security Officer will be responsible for overseeing all security operations and car park management within the hospital premises and at some local off-site community services. Your primary goal will be to ensure the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors, while maintaining efficient and orderly car park operations.
Main Responsibilities:- Develop and implement comprehensive security policies and procedures.
- Manage and lead a team of security personnel (both substantive and sub-contracted).
- Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
- Oversee car park operations, ensuring optimal use of space, smooth traffic flow, and the safety of users.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services.
- Handle security incidents and emergencies promptly and effectively.
- Provide training and support to security staff.

Requirements:- Degree Level in Security Management or significant equivalent experience with post-graduate courses.
- Membership of a Security Institute.
- Demonstrable experience of managing security contracts.
- Experience of handling confidential and sensitive information in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
- Experience of undertaking critical analysis of systems &/or incidents and identifying resolutions.
- Experience of contributing to policy development and implementation.
- Experience of undertaking investigations and sanctions.
- Experience of managing staff.
- NHS experience in a similar role.
- Experience of providing victim support.
- Experience of contributing to the design and development of standard and bespoke reports.
- Experience of managing large budgets.
- High level communicator, Management skills.
- Contractual decisions with high levels of financial and service impacts.
- Ability to work accurately and manage large multi-disciplinary departments under pressure.
- Reassuringly professional, calm under pressure.
- Ability to seek solutions to extremely challenging problems showing empathy with staff, visitors, and patients.
- Able to clearly write detailed/highly sensitive or confidential reports up to Management Board level.
- HR experience of following, implementing and managing policy across varied disciplines.
- High level judgements across a wide range of subject areas often with conflicting demands and under pressure from time and/or risk involved decision making.
- Regular updates through Journals, Workshops.
- Appraisal of direct reports and ensure all service staff receive appraisals.
- Ability to demonstrate confidence and accuracy with information technology to produce spreadsheets, reports, and statistics.
- Analytical, investigative and problem-solving abilities.
- Good presentation skills, verbal and written.
