About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Childcare Worker to join our team at West Sussex County Council. As a key member of our residential care team, you will play a vital role in providing a nurturing and supportive environment for our children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care and support to designated children or young people, ensuring their physical, emotional, and educational needs are met.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a safe and positive living environment, adhering to statutory obligations and best practice guidelines.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, promoting the growth and development of our residents.
  • Participate in shift rota, including evening and weekend work, to ensure 24/7 care and support.

Requirements

  • Good standard of literacy, with ability to write reports and applications.
  • Grade D or above in GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or above preferred).
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (support provided to complete if necessary).

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Awareness of children's development needs in residential care.
  • Knowledge of Children's Home Regulations 2015 (England).
  • Experience working with children with disabilities or complex needs.
