Founder in Residence, Zero-Emissions Plastic Packaging

Deep Science Ventures is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Founder in Residence, focusing on developing sustainable alternatives to traditional plastic packaging and improving recycling processes to reduce global plastic waste.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing innovative solutions to address the plastic packaging challenge, leveraging expertise in organic (bio)polymer design, organic (bio)chemicals, and chemical engineering.
- Collaborating with our network of Partners and Advisors to gain access to optimized tools, resources, and processes for creating high-impact ventures.
- Securing up to £250k in investment to incorporate the new venture and develop early proof-of-concept data.
- Guaranteed income of £4,166 per month as a consultancy fee until the company is launched and the pre-seed investment is secured.
- Participating in our unique venture creation process, combining available scientific knowledge and founder-type scientists into high-impact ventures.

Requirements:
- PhD or equivalent industry R&D know-how focused on organic (bio)polymer design and/or organic (bio)chemicals with a background in chemistry, materials science, biotechnology, or chemical engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies and constraints in at least one of the following areas: CO2 conversion, biomass conversion, or plastic recycling technologies.
- Broad knowledge in chemical and biochemical conversion technologies, including electrochemical, catalytic, fermentation, and microbial conversion.
- Industry-specific know-how, commercial knowledge, and network within environmental sustainability, chemical manufacturing, or related industries.
- Experience in building and scaling new technologies from concept to demonstration.
- Experience in raising funds from early-stage investors/VC.
- Experience in building and scaling a high-growth enterprise (leadership/c-suite roles).
