Job Title: Lead Quality Assurance Assessor

Are you a member or fellow of IOSH with chartered status? Do you possess a teaching or assessment qualification at level four or higher? Would you relish the chance to ensure quality and support IOSH assessors in their mission to develop future IOSH Chartered members?

IOSH is seeking contractor senior assessors for the Professional Development Assessment and Experience-based route to Certified or Chartered membership. These assessors will play a vital role in verifying the assessment of candidate members through their portfolio submissions and interview stages of their professional journey toward achieving Certified or Chartered membership status. The contractor senior assessors will be tasked with overseeing the quality assurance of evidence portfolios and conducting professional discussion interviews.

As a contractor senior assessor, you will receive comprehensive training, guidance, and support in your role and will be expected to participate in quarterly standardization meetings. Please note that this is a contractor position, and you will need to have professional indemnity insurance.

About the Role
The Lead Quality Assurance Assessor position is essential in ensuring that only those who meet our standards and professional competency requirements become IOSH qualified professionals. The primary responsibility of this role is to verify that assessments of an individual's knowledge, submitted portfolio, and any professional discussion interview process are conducted consistently according to the standards and learning objectives of our various competency levels.

Assessments are crucial for the successful admission of candidates to our membership grades and professional registration. To achieve this, there are three core responsibilities of this role:

1. To ensure inclusive assessments, providing fair access and reasonable adjustments.

2. To maintain consistent and appropriate assessment standards.

3. To offer recommendations on assessment outcomes to the Professional Development and Standards Team.

These responsibilities will be carried out under the guidance of the IOSH Professional Development Lead.

What You'll Bring

Knowledge

  • Thorough understanding of quality systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of educational assessment requirements and procedures.
  • Demonstrable comprehension of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) sector.

Skills and Abilities

Experience

  • Proven experience in assessment marking, with IOSH or another institution or awarding organization.
  • At least three years of experience in an educational quality assurance role, with knowledge of assessment and quality assurance principles.

Education

  • Relevant subject expertise, qualified to at least Level 6 in the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) sector (Essential).
  • A relevant assessment qualification or a willingness to pursue one (Essential).
  • Chartered Membership status with IOSH (Essential).
  • Higher-level qualification or evidence of further study.
