Position Overview
Reporting to the Assembly Team Leader, the Mechanical Assembly Specialist will be responsible for the assembly and commissioning of machinery, machine modules, and sub-assemblies utilizing engineering schematics and 3D models. The ideal candidate, preferably with an apprenticeship background, should possess a meticulous attention to detail and a solid understanding of engineering processes.
As part of a compact manufacturing team, the candidate must demonstrate flexibility, self-motivation, and the ability to collaborate effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Within the designated operational area, the Mechanical Assembly Specialist will:
- Adhere to all departmental protocols
- Assemble components to the specified standards, including: machine builds, modular assemblies, and sub-assemblies
- Complete all necessary quality documentation associated with tasks
- Identify and report any issues with assemblies or components, following company procedures
- Operate handling equipment and machinery, once adequately trained
- Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of housekeeping and health and safety standards
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of 5S principles
- Support the achievement of the Assembly operational objectives, ensuring timely delivery and build efficiency
- Actively promote continuous improvement initiatives
- Fulfill any other reasonable requests from the management team
Performance Metrics

Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills
The successful candidate will possess the following knowledge and skills:
- Completion of an apprenticeship program
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and understanding Bills of Materials
- Familiarity with mechanical design assembly
- Previous experience in a machine manufacturing environment
- Experience in assembling large fabricated components according to engineering specifications
- Capability to handle a variety of parts, including sheet metal, machined, and electrical components
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good numerical skills
- Computer literacy
- Possession of a counterbalance forklift license (desirable)
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles (desirable)
