Job Description

Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join Lancashire County Council as a Senior Accountant, where you will play a key role in managing the day-to-day financial tasks and providing expert advice to senior managers and Members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate complex financial information into simple, understandable language for senior managers and Members.
  • Analyse large amounts of internal and external data to inform financial decisions.
  • Complete Central Government returns and research government projections and policies.
  • Network with other Councils and gather intelligence on complex financial areas and their impact on the authority and wider Lancashire area.
  • Assess the financial implications of various scenarios and provide recommendations to senior managers and Members.

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of local government funding and the complexities within it.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
